Wildfire in Alkē, Boeotia: Battling Rekindlings – Flames Reach House Yards

The battle to extinguish the wildfire that broke out in Alkē, Boeotia, on Saturday afternoon (05/07/2025), continues both from the ground and air, as firefighters struggle with rekindlings. The flames reached house yards, causing panic among residents and tourists, many of whom evacuated urgently after a second alert from emergency services. According to Deputy Regional Governor of Boeotia, George Ntasiotis, ‘The situation is now under control, but ongoing rekindlings remain a challenge.’ Following the initial emergency message, all services were activated, and boats were dispatched by the Coast Guard to assist with potential evacuations. As clarified by Mr. Ntasiotis, ‘We ultimately canceled this action, as there was no need for sea evacuation.’ Immediately upon signs of fire spreading toward the coastal settlement, volunteers, residents, firefighting units, municipal machinery, and water tankers joined forces against the blaze. According to the latest official update from the Fire Department, 60 firefighters supported by 3 aircraft, 2 helicopters, and 18 vehicles are currently engaged at the scene.
