A wildfire broke out this afternoon (26 July 2026) in a forested area near Vasilika in the regional unit of Fthiotida, central Greece. As of now, there are no reports indicating a threat to nearby residential areas.
Ground and Air Response
A total of 43 firefighters are currently engaged in suppression efforts, supported by two ground teams from the 4th Special Unit for Forest Operations (EMODE). Twelve fire engines are also on site. From the air, three aircraft and one helicopter are conducting water-dropping operations to contain the blaze and prevent its spread.
Additional Support
Water tankers and heavy machinery provided by the General Secretariat for Civil Protection (GGPP) have been deployed to assist ground crews, reinforcing containment and mitigation efforts.
