A wildfire broke out early Tuesday, June 30, 2026, in an agricultural-forestry area near Loutsa on the island of Evia. According to eviaonline.gr, the blaze is significant and is currently burning in the area of Steni, within the municipality of Dirfyon-Messapiwn in central Evia.
Emergency Response Underway
In response, 44 firefighters were deployed, including two ground teams from the 4th and 20th Regional Units of the Hellenic Fire Service (EMODE). Eleven fire engines, four aircraft, and one helicopter are actively engaged in suppression efforts.
Additional support is being provided by municipal heavy machinery and water tankers from local authorities (OTAs), as confirmed by the Hellenic Fire Service’s official Twitter account.
