With eager fans buying tickets to see John Chi’s new Broadway film transfer “Wicked” starring her as “Glinda” and Cynthia Erivo as “Elphaba” in cinemas, an important basic rule is recalled to everyone. According to the AMC film chain, viewers of the musical with Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo are not allowed to sing his songs “Wicked” at any point in the film. In fact, like speech, the song of all sorts is banned at any time in the cinema room. In a brief advisory video on the subject of “Wicked” it states: “In AMC cinemas silence is gold. No talking. No text messages. No singing. No grief. No flirting. And absolutely no swearing. Enjoy the magic of films”. Speaking to IndyStar, AMC spokesman, Ryan Noonan, explained that this is the “long-term policy” of cinematographers to prevent “complex behaviours”. However, as she explained, AMC wanted to highlight these rules especially now before debuting in musical cinemas with timeless songs such as “Defying Gravity” and “Popular”. The spot reminds film viewers not to disrupt the experience for those around them, as they enjoy the film, Noonan says in a statement. AMC’s reminder sparked discussion online with many social media users arguing in favor and as a rule, while others admitted that they might not be able to stop singing. “As someone who didn’t have a chance to see it on the stage, I agree with it a lot! Let me live it for the first time by listening to them and then I’ll go to a song show” commented user at TikTok. “I will literally not be able to stop myself,” he refers to another comment, while in another there is disagreement: “I don’t understand people who want to hear themselves perform. That goes for concerts too. I never understood it! And I’m a singer! If I want to sing, I do it on stage or in my car”
