Why failed to the visit of Obama for Greece

Writes Spiros Rizopoulos
I left to spend a few days, “the dust settles” from the easy commentary to write what I personally consider important…
for the visit of the outgoing us President in Athens, greece.
I pointed out in a timely manner in a previous article that the visit of Obama will have to keep as a country of “small basket”, especially in the case that the change of the torch to the White House would be Hillary but the Trump in the presidency. Which is exactly what happened. From the moment that there wouldn’t be a “sequel” of Democratic governance, any statements of support of Obama could be seen only as personal greetings and nothing more.
And indeed Obama did for Greece the best she could, given the circumstances of the election Trump. In honor of the man came in and said “the best” he could say, he did walk to the Citadel, and he made a speech of global concern with ultra-flattering references to Greece.
The question, therefore, is another. Obama, he did the best he could. Greece, namely the Greek government, did it? No, he didn’t. From the moment that the result of the american election was what it was – and it’s not his fault that the Greek government – should have a ready plan for the adaptation of the concept of the visit in the new data. This is my criticism towards the government, and not all of this somehow invited for the sitting Tsipras bored on the couch with Obama. The government after the victory of the Trump he knew how the visit of Obama would only have a symbolic character and nothing more. It is a matter of common sense, you don’t have to be a political genius to understand the obvious. But the left way of thinking when they’re truant, that’s enough up there. To make the finding, and after all the boring processing for something that I don’t believe that it matters.
If there was a “alternative thinking” in the Greek government, it will grab the opportunity to make the only which could the visit of Obama to help significantly with a direct and practical way. To utilize creatively the clear intention of Obama to support symbolically the Greece, and so to make him a protagonist of the effort in view of the “Greek hospitality” in the global tourist market.
That’s why I’d like to see my prime minister would receive Obama at the airport. Not as a sign of servitude, but your symbolism of hospitality. That means I honor the man who visits my country. I would like to see my prime minister together with the american President in the Citadel, not having a look around conveyor belts for rubber stamping by a lady, a public employee. I would like to see the prime minister of my eats fish along with Obama and against the blue of the sea and not be shut up in the presidential palace to fight the parties who took the invitation and who will not. As for the advertising of Greek hospitality says nothing of the Stavros Niarchos foundation. It would say a lot, but would he take Obama with him ” in a modern grocery store that would be on the shelves of exclusively organic and traditional Greek products.
Tourism is not the agreements that makes the Kountoura with multinational tour operators to prosper arrivals. These items do not have the slightest value. Proving only that the tour operators are getting richer at the moment the Greek small hotelier loses the hotel because of the taking the bank. This is the truth.
Unfortunately, there is no “alternative thinking” in this government, as in previous ones. But following the beaten track, you don’t get very far. When you’re given such a “gift” and you don’t have a way to bring out the Greek hospitality, the Greek pride, the culture of the Zorba, which is not the caricature of beauty, but the attitude of “I continue to dance standing up in spite of the difficulties”, then it means that there is no sense of opportunity and strategy for their use. And this is very worrying for a country, especially in the place that is Greece.
