The total value of the massive agreements signed by the United States and Qatar during their meeting in Doha on May 14, 2025, amounts to $1.2 trillion. According to a White House press release summarizing some details of the agreements, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani has committed to an economic partnership worth at least $1.2 trillion. Among these agreements is a deal worth $9.6 billion with Qatar Airways for the purchase of up to 210 Boeing 787 Dreamliner and 777X aircraft equipped with GE Aerospace engines. Additionally, there is a statement of intent that could lead to investments worth $38 billion in the Al Udeid Air Base and maritime and defense infrastructure in Qatar. The White House emphasized that today’s signings reflect President Trump’s intention to accelerate Qatari defense investments in the US-Qatar security partnership, enhancing regional deterrence while benefiting America’s industrial base. It should be noted that earlier this week, Qatar signed an agreement to buy dozens of planes from Boeing for Qatar Airways during Trump’s visit to the country. The president announced it as a $200 billion order for 160 aircraft, with total agreements surpassing $243 billion.
