The White House confirmed on Tuesday (April 25) that Elon Musk will complete the mission assigned to him by the President of the United States to drastically cut state expenses, debunking information previously reported by Politico and ABC about the billionaire’s early departure from his position as head of the Office of Government Efficiency (DOGE). According to reports by Politico and ABC, U.S. President Donald Trump informed cabinet members that Musk would soon leave his governmental role to focus on his business activities, suggesting he wouldn’t complete his 130-day term, which ends in late May. “Elon Musk and President Trump have publicly stated that Elon will step down from his duties as a special government official when his remarkable work at DOGE is completed,” said Carolyn Levitt, a White House press representative. When asked if Musk wanted to remain in a government position after completing his term in May, President Trump told reporters on Monday: “I think he’s incredible, but I also understand he has a big company to run. Sometime he’ll return. He wants to.”
