White House and Putin Pay Tribute to Late Pope Francis

After battling severe health issues, Pope Francis passed away today (21.04.2025) at the age of 88. Both the White House and Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed their condolences for the death of the Pontiff. The White House honored Pope Francis with a social media message saying “Rest in Peace,” accompanied by two photos of the Pope with Donald Trump and J.D. Vance, who had a brief meeting with him yesterday (20.04.2025). Meanwhile, Vladimir Putin hailed Pope Francis as a ‘wise leader, a steadfast defender of the highest values of humanism and justice,’ according to the Kremlin. Throughout his tenure, the Pope actively contributed to fostering dialogue between the Russian Orthodox and Roman Catholic Churches, as well as constructive interaction between Russia and the Vatican, as mentioned in Putin’s condolence telegram.
