Open is the electronic POTHES for the submission of statements for 2023, with reference to the use of 2022. While tomorrow (18.11.2024) the platform for the 2024 declarations is planned to open, with a reference in 2023, according to a report in ertnews. According to information, there will be significant changes to the platform with more important elements of the asset situation being automatically drawn with taxpayers merely confirming that the data are correct. How to conduct the process One of the most important new elements that will facilitate debtors is the automatic incorporation of key assets. In particular, it will be possible to collect and integrate items such as bank deposits, income, real estate and other assets. This will make the process of supplementing statements simpler, faster and less burdensome for citizens. According to the joint ministerial decision signed by the ministers George Florides, Dimitris Papastergiou, Christos Dimas and the commander of AADE, George Pitsilis, the personal and tax data of the debtors will be automatically drawn from the tax register when the statement is submitted. This automatic process will include elements such as VAT, ID, address, telephones and emails of the manifests, thus reducing the time and effort needed to complete the process. Innovation is not limited only to simplifying the process, as other elements, such as income, bank accounts, vehicles, vessels, business participations and loans, will automatically be transferred through the interconnection of the platform with ADE, the Infrastructure Ministry’s Vehicle Register and GEMI. This combination of information will provide a comprehensive picture of the entity’s assets, further facilitating the assessment of its financial situation. The new procedure shall include the following steps: Submit platform: The submission will be made through the platform www.pothen.gr, where notaries will already be able to deposit copies of notarial documents. This addition will accelerate the process and facilitate communication between notaries and the tax authority. Electronic deposit of notarial documents: Notaries shall be required to submit each notarial document electronically within 15 days of its signature. This obligation will ensure speed and accuracy in the process of collecting the necessary data. Personal entry codes: The parties will enter the platform with their personal TAXIS codes for the submission of the declaration, ensuring the security and protection of their personal data. Automatically display items: Personal and tax information will automatically appear as entered in the tax register, enabling debtors to correct any errors before the declaration is made. Automatic transfer of assets: The assets will be automatically transferred, including income, real estate, bank accounts, vehicles and loans over EUR 5,000. This feature is expected to reduce the probability of errors and save time during the submission process. Correction option: The debtors will be able to check and correct their data before the declaration is finalised, adding or erasing records and attaching the necessary supporting documents. Electronic submission of necessary documents: The necessary documents shall be attached electronically to the declarations which are required to be checked unless they have been automatically transferred. The debtors will attach new data only in cases of change in their assets. Amendment declarations: Where the declaration has been finalised in time, an amending declaration may be made by the debtor within 30 days of the deadline for submission. What the new process offers According to sources from the relevant ministries, the new process is expected to significantly facilitate debtors by restricting errors and omissions, while enhancing transparency and effectiveness in controls. Moreover, it is noted that the automatic data collection and the possibility of correcting data ensure the correctness of the statements, improving the reporting and control process of the statements from the previous year.
