What do you say now! The coffee prevents the appearance of cancer in the liver?

Another european scientific research, the study…
EPIC (European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition) with the participation of several Greek scientists, confirms and illuminates from the point of view of biological mechanisms – the protective effect of coffee in one of the most common early forms of liver cancer, hepatocellular carcinoma.
The study, led by the Κραζιμίρα Αλεξάντροβα of the Department of Epidemiology of the German Institute of Human Nutrition, published in the american journal of clinical nutrition American Journal of Clinical Nutrition” analyzed data for 125 patients with hepatocellular carcinoma and other 250 healthy. People who consumed four or more cups of/cups of coffee a day (600mL), had a 75% lower risk of developing hepatocellular carcinoma, compared with those who consumed less than two cups of/cups of coffee per day (300mL).
The study found that the inverse relationship between the intake of coffee and the occurrence of hepatocellular carcinoma is mediated by anti-inflammatory markers as well as markers that indicate the hepatocellular damage.
This is due to the anti-inflammatory and ήπατο-protective properties of coffee, which acts as a barrier to carcinogenesis. According to the researchers, coffee contains biologically active components with high antioxidant capacity, such as caffeine, παραξανθίνη, two diterpenes that are found especially in coffee, the καφεστόλη and the καφεόλη, the chlorogenic acids etc.
Liver cancer is one of the most deadly forms of cancer in the world. The effect of diet in the prevention of its occurrence has been recognized for many years.
