What changes in the rules on baggage in flights from September: The dimensions and weights allowed in a cabin

in

New universal regulations have been adopted or on baggage allowed within the aircraft cabin during a flight, for all . Since 1 September the European Union has put an end to the ‘freedom’ of airlines to set their own rules on cabin baggage on air travel. In particular, it is going to introduce a new set of rules aimed at making flights much simpler. Changes to the manual baggage regulations are due to enter into force on 1 September as part of a plan to standardise the dimensions of hand luggage. At the same time, the rules on the transport of liquids to aeroplanes will come back to a universal standard. Until now, airlines have been free to set their own conditions regarding the dimensions of hand luggage. This has led to a number of rules on the permissible weight and size of hand luggage, which often embarrassed even the most experienced travelers. The new EU regulations will impose uniformity on all European airlines, which means passengers can now expect standard sizes and baggage weights. Here is a summary of the EU rules governing hand luggage and will apply to all travellers from the beginning of next month. Permitted weight: Not more than 10 kg. 1 hand luggage and 1 small personal item, such as bag, backpack or laptop bag, which must fit under the seat in front of you. Maximum dimensions: The maximum dimensions (including handles and wheels) are set at 55 x 40 x 20cm, while the personal object must be 40 x 30 x 15cm. The EU also decided to restore the previous rules on the quantity of liquids passengers can take on flights. Currently, travelers passing terminals equipped with explosives detection systems for hand luggage (EDSCB) could carry liquids in quantities greater than 100 ml. It has now been decided to abolish this exemption until all airports in Europe have the same control device.
