A significant deterioration in weather conditions is expected starting Tuesday, March 18, 2025. For at least two days, the country will experience winter-like conditions with snow, heavy rain accompanied by stormy winds, and low temperatures. The Hellenic National Meteorological Service (EMY) issued an emergency weather bulletin for Tuesday and Wednesday, warning of a noticeable drop in temperature (up to 12-15 degrees Celsius), strong rains, thunderstorms, and snowfall in mountainous, semi-mountainous areas, and even in some low-altitude regions in eastern continental Greece. Gale-force northerly and northeast winds of up to Beaufort scale 8 and locally 9 are forecast over the Aegean and eastern continental areas from Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday evening. Detailed forecasts include intense rains and storms in Thrace starting midday Tuesday and continuing into the afternoon, as well as heavy rain and thunderstorms in Chalkidiki, Thessaly, the Sporades islands, Evia, Fthiotida, and Viotia from early Tuesday afternoon until Thursday morning. Snowfall is also expected in various regions, including mountainous and semi-mountainous areas of Macedonia, Thrace, and Epirus starting midday Tuesday and extending into the evening.
