Weather Tomorrow: Rain, Thunderstorms, and Snow in the Mountains

Severe weather is expected across Greece on January 31, 2026, according to the Hellenic National Meteorological Service (EMY). Heavy rain and thunderstorms will intensify during evening hours, especially in western regions including the Ionian Sea, western Central Greece, and western Peloponnese. Sporadic thunderstorms are also forecast for the Aegean islands until noon, gradually subsiding by late afternoon—except for a renewed intensification late at night. Light snowfall is expected in mountainous areas of central and northern Greece. Winds will vary regionally: southwesterly 4–6 Beaufort in southern areas; easterly to northeasterly 3–5 Beaufort in the north; and southeasterly up to 6 Beaufort over the Ionian Sea from evening. Temperatures remain largely stable: 12–14°C in the north; 15–17°C in the Ionian and mainland; 18–19°C in the southern Aegean, reaching 20°C locally in the Dodecanese. In Attica, expect morning showers and isolated thunderstorms, clearing gradually; temperatures 9–17°C. In Thessaloniki, scattered rain and partly cloudy skies; temperatures 6–13°C. Similar conditions apply across Macedonia, Thrace, Epirus, Western Sterea, and Peloponnese—with localized heavy rain, thunderstorms, and brief snow in highlands.
