Weather Tomorrow: Heavy Rain, Thunderstorms in Athens & Thessaloniki – Snow in Mountains

Severe weather is expected tomorrow (6/2/2026), according to the Hellenic National Meteorological Service (EMY). Heavy rain and thunderstorms will affect many regions, including Athens and Thessaloniki. A weather alert remains active for islands in the northern and eastern Aegean and the Dodecanese until early morning hours. In the eastern Aegean and Dodecanese, increased cloudiness will bring rain and isolated thunderstorms—locally intense at first, then rapidly weakening. Western areas will see increasing clouds with localized rain intensifying by noon, accompanied by sporadic thunderstorms. Elsewhere, scattered clouds with brief showers are expected; isolated thunderstorms may occur in northern mainland Greece. Light snowfall is forecast for mountainous areas of mainland Greece. Visibility will be locally reduced during early morning and evening hours, with patches of fog. African dust transport is also likely. Winds will be westerly to southwesterly, 3–5 Beaufort (locally 6 over seas). Temperatures remain stable: up to 14–16°C in northern inland areas and 17–19°C elsewhere. In Athens: brief cloud increases midday–afternoon, with local rain and possible isolated thunderstorms; winds W–SW 3–4 Bft; temperatures 10–17/18°C. In Thessaloniki: increasing clouds from late morning, local rain and possible isolated thunderstorms; improvement expected late evening; variable winds 2–3 Bft; temperatures 9–16°C. Similar patterns apply across Macedonia–Thrace, Ionian Islands–Epirus–Western Sterea–Western Peloponnese (with light snow in highlands), Thessaly–Eastern Sterea–Evia–Eastern Peloponnese, and the Cyclades.
