Weather Tomorrow: Heavy Rain, Storms, Hail and Snow Across Greece

Severe weather is forecast for tomorrow (1/2/2026) across most of Greece, according to the Hellenic National Meteorological Service (EMY). Intense and prolonged rainfall, thunderstorms, gusty winds up to 8–9 Beaufort, localized hail, and snowfall are expected nationwide. Snow will fall in mountainous and semi-mountainous areas of mainland Greece, including northern regions—and from early afternoon also in low-altitude parts of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace. Winds will blow from northeastern directions in the north and southern directions in the south, reaching up to 8 Beaufort over seas. Temperatures will drop significantly in central and northern areas: not exceeding 10°C in Macedonia, Thrace, and inland Epirus; 12°C in Thessaly; 16–17°C in the Ionian Sea, northern Aegean, and other mainland regions; and 17–19°C in the southern Aegean and Crete. Frost is expected overnight in central and northern mainland areas. In Attica, expect intermittent heavy rain and thunderstorms from morning until evening, with southeasterly winds (5–6 Beaufort) shifting to southwesterly at noon and northerly (4–5 Beaufort) by night; temperatures 11–17°C. In Thessaloniki, strong rain and storms will persist until late afternoon, with snow in mountainous zones; easterly winds (4–6 Beaufort) turning northwesterly in the afternoon; temperatures 5–9°C. Similar severe conditions—including heavy rain, hail, and snow—will affect Macedonia, Thrace, the Ionian Islands, Epirus, western Sterea, and western Peloponnese.
