Today, Thursday, 9 July 2026, Greece will experience a split weather pattern — autumnal in half the country and summery in the other. According to the Hellenic National Meteorological Service (EMY), scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms will develop early in the morning across central and eastern Macedonia, Thrace, Thessaly, the Sporades islands, and the northeastern Aegean. From late morning, similar conditions are expected in Evia and eastern Central Greece. These phenomena will gradually ease by evening.
Clear Skies Elsewhere, With Localised Showers
In the rest of the country, skies will generally be clear, with only brief cloud increases during midday and afternoon hours over mountainous areas of Epirus, western Central Greece, the Peloponnese, and Crete — where short-lived rain showers or localized downbursts may occur.
Wind and Temperature Outlook
Winds will blow from the west and northwest at 3–5 Beaufort in western regions, and from the north and northeast at 4–6 Beaufort in the east. Maximum temperatures will see a slight drop in central and northern areas. Coastal islands and northeastern mainland regions will reach 30–32°C, while most inland areas — including parts of the Dodecanese — will climb to 32–34°C.
Attica
Initially clear, skies will quickly become partly cloudy, with isolated showers developing — especially in northern areas — and possibly brief thunderstorms. Winds will be northerly at 3–4 Beaufort, reaching 5 Beaufort temporarily in eastern sectors; shifting to variable 3–4 Beaufort by afternoon. Temperatures will range from 23°C to 33°C.
Thessaloniki
Cloud cover will increase, bringing isolated showers and scattered thunderstorms that will fade quickly. Clouds and light rain or downbursts are expected to redevelop during midday and afternoon. Winds start as northwesterly (3–5 Beaufort), turning variable up to 4 Beaufort after noon. Temperatures will range from 22°C to 32°C.
Macedonia & Thrace
Central and eastern Macedonia and Thrace will see intermittent cloudiness from dawn, with showers and isolated thunderstorms — easing by afternoon. Western Macedonia will remain mostly clear, though clouds will briefly increase around noon, bringing local showers or downbursts. Winds begin northerly at 4–6 Beaufort, shifting to variable 3–5 Beaufort after noon. Temperatures will range from 20°C to 32°C, reaching up to 33°C locally in central Macedonia.
Ionian Islands, Epirus, Western Central Greece & Western Peloponnese
Generally clear skies, with temporary cloud development during midday and afternoon over inland and mountainous zones — leading to isolated showers or downbursts. Winds will be westerly or northwesterly at 3–5 Beaufort. Temperatures will range from 21°C to 34°C.
Thessaly, Eastern Central Greece, Evia, Eastern Peloponnese
Eastern Thessaly, the Sporades, Evia, and — from late morning — eastern Central Greece will see increased cloud cover, with isolated showers and thunderstorms. The eastern Peloponnese starts sunny but will see cloud build-up from noon, followed by isolated showers or downbursts, especially over mountains.
