A wintry scene is expected today, Sunday (06.04.25), across most parts of the country, marked by strong local rains and thunderstorms, a noticeable temperature drop, and intermittent snowfall in mountainous and semi-mountainous areas. According to the weather forecast from the National Meteorological Service (EMY), there will be scattered clouds that will increase locally in the west, south, and eastern island regions, with some local showers. By midday in the north, clouds will thicken and sporadic thunderstorms are predicted, mainly in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, extending to the islands of the northeastern Aegean (Lemnos area) by evening. In other areas, there will be occasional clouds increasing during the afternoon with localized rain or downpours. Snowfall is expected in the northern regions, particularly in mountainous areas from the afternoon and overnight into Monday, extending to semi-mountainous zones. Winds will blow from westerly directions at 4 to 5 Beaufort in the west and south, with local gusts up to 6 Beaufort. In the east, winds will come from southerly directions at 4 to 6 Beaufort. By evening, winds in the north will shift to northerly directions and intensify locally up to 7 Beaufort. Temperatures will slightly rise, especially in the east and south, reaching 17-19°C in most areas and locally up to 20-21°C, but a significant drop is forecast for Macedonia and Thrace by the afternoon. Specific details include partly cloudy conditions in Attica with light temporary clouds, winds from westerly directions at 3 to 5 Beaufort, and temperatures ranging from 8 to 18-19°C. Thessaloniki will see light clouds increasing by midday with local showers and possible isolated thunderstorms in nearby mountains, variable winds at 3 to 4 Beaufort shifting to northerly directions by noon at 4 to 6 Beaufort, and temperatures from 7 to 16-17°C.
