Weather Today: Rain, Thunderstorms, and Snow in Mountains

Rainfall will gradually weaken today (2/2/2026) across most of Greece, though isolated heavy rain and thunderstorms will persist in parts of Crete until early morning, the Eastern Aegean, and the Dodecanese until noon. Light, localized showers are expected in Attica and Thessaloniki. Increased cloud cover with scattered rain and sporadic thunderstorms — occasionally intense in Crete and possibly the northern Cyclades until dawn, and across the Eastern Aegean and Dodecanese until midday — will ease by afternoon. Elsewhere, brief light rain is possible. Snowfall is forecast across northern mainland mountainous and semi-mountainous areas, locally heavy at lower elevations in eastern Macedonia and Thrace during morning hours. Winds will blow from northern directions (4–6 Bf, locally 7 Bf in the Aegean), gradually easing from the north. Temperatures will drop slightly in central and southern regions, remaining seasonally normal: 9–11°C in the north, 14–16°C elsewhere, and up to 17–19°C in the southeastern islands. Frost is expected at night and in early morning across central and northern mainland areas. In Attica: intermittent clouds with a chance of light local showers in the morning and evening; northerly to northwesterly winds 4–5 Bf (locally 6 Bf in the east), easing rapidly; temperatures 10–14°C. In Thessaloniki: variable clouds with light local rain and light snow in mountains; northerly to northwesterly winds 3–4 Bf; temperatures 5–11°C. In Macedonia and Thrace: variable clouds with local rain and thunderstorms near coasts; snow in mountains, locally heavy at low altitudes in the morning; northerly winds 4–6 Bf (locally 7 Bf in the east), easing gradually; temperatures 3–11°C (3–4°C lower in western Macedonia). In the Ionian Islands, Epirus, Western Central Greece, and Western Peloponnese: intermittent clouds with light local rain and light snow in Epirus’ mountains.
