Weather Today: New Heatwave Hits Thessaly, Central Greece, Evia, and Peloponnese

A new heatwave is expected today (June 25, 2025), with summer-like conditions prevailing across Greece. While a few temporary clouds may form over the mountains of Macedonia in the afternoon, much of the country will experience clear skies. According to the Hellenic National Meteorological Service (EMY), temperatures are set to soar up to 38-39°C in mainland areas, while islands in the Ionian, eastern Aegean, and southern Crete could reach highs of 35°C. Other island regions are forecasted to see temperatures between 31-32°C. Winds will predominantly blow from northern directions at 3-5 Beaufort, with gusts reaching up to 6 Beaufort locally in the Aegean. Attica will remain sunny with winds blowing at 3-4 Beaufort from northern directions, peaking temporarily at 5 Beaufort in the east. Temperatures there will range from 23°C to 38°C. Similar conditions are predicted for Thessaloniki, where thermometers could hit 37°C. Macedonia and Thrace will generally be clear but might see some localized cloud cover over mountainous areas during the afternoon. The highest temperatures here could also reach 38°C. In western Sterea Hellas, Epirus, and western Peloponnese, weather will stay mostly sunny with moderate winds from west-northwest directions. Eastern Sterea Hellas, Evia, and eastern Peloponnese are bracing for scorching heat, possibly hitting 39°C in certain areas. Cyclades and Crete will enjoy clear skies, with winds blowing moderately strong at 4-6 Beaufort. Northern Aegean islands and Dodecanese can expect similar conditions, though slightly cooler compared to inland areas.
