Weather Today: Local Rain and Cloud Cover – Temperatures Reach 18°C

Most of Greece will experience mostly cloudy conditions today (3/2/2026), according to the National Observatory of Athens (EMY), with only isolated light rain in some areas. The EMY forecast indicates scattered clouds, localized showers, and light snowfall in the mountainous areas of eastern Macedonia during early morning hours. Visibility will be locally reduced over mainland regions due to fog formation in the early morning and evening. Winds in the Aegean Sea will blow from northern directions at 4–5 Beaufort, reaching up to 6 Beaufort locally in the southeast, gradually shifting to southerly or south-southeasterly with similar intensity. Across the rest of the country, winds will be southerly or south-southeasterly at 3–5 Beaufort; in the Ionian Sea, they’ll strengthen to 6 Beaufort by afternoon, reaching 7 Beaufort locally in the north. Temperatures will not exceed 8°C in Thrace, will reach 10–12°C in other northern mainland areas, 14–16°C across the rest of mainland Greece, and locally peak at 17–18°C in western, southern, and insular regions. In Attica, skies will be partly cloudy in the morning, then generally clear, with variable winds up to 3 Beaufort and temperatures between 8°C and 16°C. In Thessaloniki, cloud cover will increase intermittently, with a chance of localized rain until noon; easterly winds at 3–4 Beaufort; temperatures ranging from 6°C to 12°C. In Macedonia and Thrace, scattered clouds will occasionally intensify, bringing isolated rain in central Macedonia until afternoon and light snowfall in eastern Macedonian mountains during early hours. Winds will be easterly to northeasterly at 3–5 Beaufort, shifting gradually to southerly or south-southeasterly. Temperatures range from 3°C to 12°C—3–4°C lower in Thrace. In the Ionian Islands, Epirus, western Central Greece, and western Peloponnese, clouds will be scattered and occasionally denser; winds southerly to south-southeasterly at 3–5 Beaufort, increasing to 4–6 Beaufort by afternoon; temperatures 8–17°C, locally reaching 18°C—3–4°C lower inland in Epirus. In Thessaly, eastern Central Greece, Evia, and eastern Peloponnese, scattered clouds will occasionally thicken, with light localized rain in the Sporades during early hours; winds variable at 2–3 Beaufort, shifting to southerly at 4–5 Beaufort after noon; temperatures 4–16°C. In the Cyclades and Crete, clouds will be few but briefly more abundant, with localized rain mainly in northern Crete during early hours; winds westerly to northwesterly at 4–5 Beaufort, gradually turning southerly or south-southeasterly; temperatures 11–17°C, locally reaching 18°C. In the eastern Aegean islands and Dodecanese, scattered clouds will intensify locally in the Dodecanese, with isolated morning showers.
