Today, May 24, 2025, will be summery across Greece as a noticeable rise in temperatures is expected in most parts of the country. Sterea Ellada, Evia, and Crete are set to experience another heatwave, while local rains are forecast for Macedonia, Thrace, Epirus, and the Ionian islands. According to the Hellenic National Meteorological Service (EMY), scattered clouds will develop, occasionally becoming denser in some areas. Local showers and isolated thunderstorms may occur from midday onwards in Macedonia, the mountainous regions of Epirus, Thessaly, and Thrace. The weather phenomena will subside in Thessaly and Thrace by nightfall. Meteorological conditions favor the transport of African dust. Winds will blow from southerly directions at 4 to 5 Beaufort, locally reaching 6 and temporarily 7 Beaufort in southern seas with gradual weakening during evening hours. Gradually, winds in western and northern areas will shift to northerly directions up to 5 Beaufort. Temperatures will slightly increase mainly in central and southern regions, reaching unusually high levels for this time of year. Inland areas could see temperatures of 30 to 32 degrees Celsius, locally reaching 33 degrees. In the Dodecanese, temperatures will range from 31 to 33 degrees Celsius, while in the rest of the island areas, they will vary between 28 and 30 degrees Celsius. Northern Crete may hit 34 to 35 degrees Celsius.
