Winds will remain strong — up to 7 on the Beaufort scale — particularly across the Aegean Sea. Maximum temperatures nationwide will not exceed 35°C today.
Friday and Weekend Outlook
From Friday, rainfall is expected to expand to additional areas of the country, while temperatures remain between 28°C and 34°C. Over the weekend, weather conditions will ease again, with winds continuing at up to 7 Beaufort and a slight rise in temperatures.
Orange Fire Danger Alert for Three Regions
According to the Fire Risk Forecast Map issued by the General Secretariat for Civil Protection (civilprotection.gov.gr) under the Ministry of Climate Crisis & Civil Protection, a very high fire risk (Level 4) is forecast for Thursday, 23 July 2026, in the following regions:
- Attica
- Central Greece (specifically Evia)
- South Aegean (specifically Rhodes)
The General Secretariat has alerted relevant state agencies, regional authorities, and municipalities in these areas to maintain heightened civil protection readiness. Citizens are urged to exercise extreme caution and avoid any outdoor activities that could spark fires — including burning dry grass or pruning waste, using spark-producing tools (e.g., angle grinders or welding equipment), operating open-air barbecues, beekeeping with smokers, or discarding lit cigarettes.
It is also important to recall that field burning is strictly prohibited during the wildfire season. In case of fire detection, the public is advised to contact the Hellenic Fire Service immediately at emergency number 199.
