Temperatures will peak tomorrow (22 July 2026), reaching 42°C in mainland Greece — the highest of the current heatwave. According to the Hellenic National Meteorological Service (EMY), many inland areas are expected to experience high thermal stress due to these extreme temperatures.
Regional Outlook
In northern mainland Greece, skies will start mostly clear but cloud cover will increase through the day, bringing isolated showers and, especially across central and eastern Macedonia and Thrace, scattered thunderstorms. These storms will gradually weaken from late afternoon onward.
Elsewhere in the country, conditions will remain largely sunny, with brief cloud development over inland and mountainous areas during midday and afternoon hours. Isolated showers are possible in mountainous parts of Thessaly. In the Sporades and the eastern Aegean islands, temporary cloud cover is expected after nightfall, with a chance of isolated rain.
A short-lived influx of Saharan dust is also forecast.
Winds and Sea Conditions
Winds will be variable at 3–4 Beaufort early on, shifting to westerly by noon at 3–5 Beaufort. Locally, seas may see gusts up to 6 Beaufort in the afternoon — rising to 7 Beaufort in the northeastern Aegean by evening.

Temperatures will drop slightly in the north, but remain very high across southern mainland Greece and the southern islands. Expect highs of 34–35°C in the Cyclades; 35–37°C — locally 38°C — across the rest of the islands and northern mainland; and 38–40°C — with local peaks of 41–42°C — in central and southern mainland regions.

Generally clear skies. Winds will be variable at 3–4 Beaufort, turning south-southeasterly at noon, then shifting to westerly and northwesterly at 4–5 Beaufort — locally reaching 6 Beaufort. Temperatures will range from 25°C to 38–39°C, with local highs of 40°C. Coastal areas will be 2–3°C cooler.
Thessaloniki
Partly cloudy, with temporarily increased cloud cover during midday and afternoon hours, bringing isolated showers, downbursts, and isolated thunderstorms. Winds will be variable at 3 Beaufort, shifting to northwesterly by noon at 4 Beaufort — strengthening to 5 Beaufort, and locally 6 Beaufort, by evening. Temperatures will range from 23°C to 34–35°C.
Other Regions
Macedonia & Thrace
In central and eastern Macedonia and Thrace, clouds will build early, bringing localized rain and scattered thunderstorms — gradually clearing from late afternoon. In western Macedonia, brief cloud development during midday and afternoon may trigger isolated showers and thunderstorms. Winds will be variable at 3–4 Beaufort, shifting to northerly by noon at similar intensity, strengthening to 5 Beaufort locally by night — and up to 6 Beaufort in eastern areas. Temperatures will range from 20°C to 35–36°C, reaching 37°C locally in western Macedonia.
Ionian Islands, Epirus, Western Central Greece, and Western Peloponnese
Generally clear, with brief cloud cover developing over inland and mountainous zones during midday and afternoon hours.
