Weather Forecast: Temperatures to Hit 38°C in Greece This Week

June has arrived, bringing with it the heat that feels like the height of summer. Thermometers are expected to reach up to 38°C over the next few days, marking an extremely warm period. Renowned meteorologist Yiannis Kallianos posted an update on the upcoming weather, stating that temperatures will gradually rise starting from Monday. Each day will feel warmer than the last, culminating in a peak by the end of the week where mercury levels may locally hit 36-37°C and even 38°C in inland areas. However, Kallianos emphasized that this is not a heatwave. He warned against dramatic headlines, noting that while the incoming heatwave will be mild for Greece, it originates from North Africa and will affect Mediterranean countries as well as parts of Central-Southern Europe. Additionally, there is no indication of African dust reaching Greece, at least until Friday. Here’s a breakdown of the forecasted temperatures for six major cities: Athens, Thessaloniki, Patras, Heraklion, Larissa, and Nafplio. The temperatures provided are indicative and could vary due to local conditions and winds. For other regions, maximum temperatures are expected to range between 31-38°C depending on location.
