The weather is set to improve tomorrow, Tuesday, March 17, according to the Hellenic National Meteorological Service (EMY). The forecast indicates increased cloudiness with local showers and scattered storms in Western Macedonia, Central Macedonia, Eastern Macedonia, Thrace, and the northern Aegean. These conditions may temporarily intensify in Thrace and Chalkidiki. Gradually, these phenomena will extend eastward across the rest of mainland Greece, including the Sporades, Evia, and from the afternoon onwards, the Cyclades, Crete, and the eastern Aegean. Snowfall is expected initially at higher altitudes in northern Greece and will progressively move to lower elevations, particularly in Macedonia, Thrace, Epirus, Thessaly, Evia, Phthiotis, and Boeotia. Winds will be northerly northwest at 4-6 Beaufort, locally reaching up to 7 Beaufort in the seas. From the afternoon onward, northeast winds will strengthen over the Aegean to 8-9 Beaufort, while in the Ionian Sea, they will range between 4-6 Beaufort in the evening. Temperatures are expected to drop significantly, especially in the north by 8-10 degrees Celsius, with lows of 10-12°C in the north, 14-16°C elsewhere on the mainland, and up to 17°C in southern areas. In the eastern islands, temperatures will range from 17-18°C, and locally in Crete and the Dodecanese, up to 19-20°C.
