Weather Forecast: Summer-like Temperatures and African Dust on the Way

in

Starting today (03.05.2025), Greece is set to experience a significant change in weather conditions, with summer-like temperatures expected to reach over 30 degrees Celsius. The National Meteorological Service forecasts clear skies with scattered clouds for Athens and Thessaloniki, although African dust will likely affect air quality throughout the week. After a week of cooler temperatures and strong winds, the weather scene shifts dramatically. By today, thermometers are expected to rise, especially in mainland areas and Crete, where temperatures could exceed 30 degrees. However, African dust transport is anticipated to complicate atmospheric conditions mid-week. According to meteo.gr, central Athens could see temperatures reaching 31 degrees Celsius on Monday. This Saturday (03.05.2025), clear skies with occasional clouds are predicted for the mainland and Dodecanese islands, along with localized showers or isolated thunderstorms in mountainous regions of Epirus, Macedonia, Western and Central Sterea, Peloponnese, and the Dodecanese. Visibility may be locally restricted in the morning, particularly in inland areas. Temperatures will range from 10 to 27 degrees Celsius in Northern Greece, 12 to 26 degrees Celsius in Central and Southern Greece, and up to 28 degrees Celsius in Thessaly. Winds will blow moderately from northern directions across the Aegean Sea at 4-5 Beaufort, occasionally strengthening to 6 Beaufort in the central Aegean during the mornings before gradually weakening. In the Ionian Sea, winds will shift from variable directions, becoming weak and temporarily moderate from northwesterly directions after noon.
