Weather Forecast: Rain, Thunderstorms, and North Winds After a Mini Summer in Greece

in

Summer seems to be on hold as the high temperatures that dominated the previous days are expected to give way to rain, some thunderstorms, and a drop in temperature. Starting from Saturday (May 10, 2025), temperatures will begin to fall, with only southern Greece retaining higher-than-average levels for this time of year. However, the weekend will still be particularly warm, with temperatures in some areas reaching up to 30 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, rain and thunderstorms are expected until midday in Macedonia and Thrace. According to meteorologists, over the next few days, a polar air stream will affect the country’s weather, causing a drop in temperature and rain, reminiscent of an extreme autumn scene. The good news is that the north winds will help clear away African dust. The weather forecast for the coming days shows intermittent clouds with localized showers and scattered thunderstorms in Macedonia and Thessaly. Conditions will improve by evening but will deteriorate again in western regions and gradually spread to central and northern Aegean areas. By Monday, there will be isolated showers and possible thunderstorms, especially in mountainous regions. Temperatures will return to normal seasonal levels, ranging from 20-22°C in the north to 24-26°C in other areas, with some southern regions reaching 27°C. Tuesday through Wednesday will see similar patterns with localized showers and scattered thunderstorms, particularly in eastern mainland areas and the islands. Wind conditions will vary between 3-6 Beaufort scales depending on the region, and temperatures will slightly decrease in northern and eastern areas.
