From winter to summer and back again—this seems to characterize the weather over the next few days. According to forecasts, temperatures could exceed 30°C this weekend, only to drop sharply starting Monday. Meteorologists predict that Saturday (March 15, 2025) will see temperatures reaching up to 30°C with generally clear skies and sparse clouds, which may thicken in central and northern areas. Strong African dust transport is also expected. Winds will blow from the south-southeast at 4 to 6 Beaufort, increasing to 6-7 Beaufort in the Ionian Sea. Temperatures are set to rise across the country, peaking at 25-26°C in most regions and up to 28-30°C in northern Crete. By Sunday, eastern continental Greece could reach 30°C, with coastal areas of northern Crete potentially hitting 33°C. Athens is forecasted to reach 27°C. However, a sudden change is expected by Tuesday, with temperatures dropping dramatically by up to 18°C, snow in mountainous areas, and strong northerly winds clearing the atmosphere of dust. Meteorologist Christina Regou notes that this cold snap might feel harsh after the unusual heat but could mark the end of this year’s winter. Forecasts for the coming days include scattered clouds, occasional local showers, and possible thunderstorms in western and northern areas. Snowfall is predicted in mountainous regions, with freezing conditions in some places.
