A significant deterioration in weather conditions is expected today, Thursday, May 1, 2025, with strong showers and storms accompanied by powerful winds. However, this bad weather will be short-lived as phenomena are expected to subside tomorrow, with temperatures on an upward trend. The National Meteorological Service (EMY) issued an urgent weather warning yesterday indicating that heavy rain and storms are expected in the Dodecanese until Thursday afternoon, while in Crete, conditions will intensify from early morning on May 1st until Friday morning. Increased cloudiness with local showers is forecasted for the islands of the eastern Aegean, Cyclades, Crete, and Dodecanese, with sporadic and occasionally strong storms primarily over Crete and the Dodecanese. Elsewhere in the country, there will be few clouds which may increase temporarily during the afternoon in Macedonia and Thrace, causing some localized showers. Winds will blow from northern directions, reaching 4-6 Beaufort in the west, 5-7 Beaufort in the east, and up to 8 Beaufort locally in the Aegean Sea. Temperatures will slightly rise, especially in the Ionian and western mainland areas, reaching highs of 25-26°C in the Ionian and western mainland, 23-25°C in the remaining mainland regions, and 19-21°C in the eastern island areas. By Friday, the weather will remain unstable in Crete, southern Cyclades, and the Dodecanese with showers and sporadic storms, while conditions will improve elsewhere. This trend continues through the weekend, leading to generally clear skies and warmer temperatures by Sunday and Monday.
