A summer-like breeze is expected in the coming days as strong winds gradually weaken, according to a forecast by meteorologist Thodoris Kollias. “From this evening onward, the winds will progressively begin to subside,” Kollias stated in a video posted on May 1, 2025, across his social media platforms and YouTube channel. On Friday, northerly winds in the central and southern Aegean are not expected to exceed 6-7 Beaufort. The weekend will see further weakening of winds, with southerlies returning by mid-week, accompanied by rising temperatures reaching up to 26-28°C in many areas, with some localities potentially seeing highs of 30°C. In Crete, the southern Cyclades, and the Dodecanese, the weather will remain unstable with showers and scattered thunderstorms, particularly strong in some areas until the early morning hours. Over the rest of the country, clouds will increase during the afternoon and evening, leading to localized showers and isolated thunderstorms in mountainous inland regions. Northwesterly winds will blow at 3-4 Beaufort in the west, 4-6 in the east, and temporarily up to 7 Beaufort in the central and southern Aegean. By Sunday, conditions will generally improve, with occasional local cloud formations in central and northern mainland Greece, possibly bringing light rain to mountainous areas, especially in Macedonia. Winds will shift to westerly directions at 3-5 Beaufort, occasionally reaching 6 Beaufort in the south. Temperatures will continue their gradual rise, particularly in eastern and southern regions.
