Weather Forecast: African Dust Invasion and Heatwave with Local Rain in Macedonia and Epirus

Summer has arrived for good, as tomorrow (May 24, 2025), the weather will be clear with a noticeable rise in temperatures across most of the country. The heatwave will grip Central Greece, Evia, and Crete once again, while local rains are expected in Macedonia, Thrace, Epirus, and the Ionian region. According to the Hellenic National Meteorological Service (EMY), there will be scattered clouds, locally denser at times. Local showers and isolated thunderstorms are predicted from midday onwards in Macedonia, the mountainous areas of Epirus, Thessaly, and Thrace. Weather conditions favor the transport of African dust. Winds will blow from southern directions at 4 to 5 Beaufort, with local gusts up to 6 or occasionally 7 Beaufort over southern seas, gradually weakening by evening. Gradually shifting to northern winds reaching up to 5 Beaufort in western and northern regions. Temperatures will slightly increase, particularly in central and southern areas, reaching high levels for this time of year. Inland areas could see temperatures rising to 30-32°C and even 33°C in some places, while the Dodecanese islands may reach 31-33°C. Other island regions could experience temperatures between 28-30°C Celsius, with the northern part of Crete possibly hitting 34-35°C.
