Weather: Chania and Parnassos had 42 degrees Celsius New Year’s Difference

He’s gone crazy! The temperature was 42 degrees Celsius (01.12.2025) in Greece. In 2025 he entered with a huge difference in temperature in areas of the country on New Year’s Day, according to meteorologist George Tsatrafyllia. Meteoro: Over normal the average December temperature Meanwhile, according to the network of 53 weather stations of meteo.gr of the National Observatory of Athens (E.A.) operating unchanged from 2010 to today, in December 2024 the average value of maximum daily temperatures ranged just above normal levels for the time in most regions of the country (in relation to the average of 2010-2019). The following map shows the deviations of the average maximum temperature for December 2024 per geographical compartment. The next graph shows the December month classification per year, depending on the average monthly value of the maximum temperature. In Thessaly was the 5th hottest, while in Northern Greece the 6th hottest since 2010. In Athens, the average monthly deviation value of the maximum temperature was +0.5 °C, with 22 of the 31 days of the month being above normal for the season levels. In Thessaloniki, 19 days of the month was above the average value of the period 2010-2019, where the average maximum temperature of the month ranged by 0.7 oC above normal levels. Important to note that for Crete and the Peloponnese in 2024 it closed with 11/12 months of the year to record positive deviations of the average maximum temperature (only November 2024 with negative deviations). In the rest of the country, 10/12 months of the year recorded temperatures above normal levels for the season. The last graph shows the values of the deviations for all 53 weather stations.
