In a matter of hours, summer turns to winter as the weather drastically changes from the pleasant days of Tuesday (18/03/2025). Temperatures are expected to plummet by up to 25 degrees in some areas, with snow even falling in lowland regions. Following the recent summer-like temperatures, extreme weather conditions will return across the country, bringing rain and snow. A sudden cold front is pushing out the brief spring spell of recent days and reintroducing winter conditions. According to meteorologist George Papavasiliou, ‘In many parts of our country, we exceeded 25 degrees Celsius. Over the next three days, we expect the transfer of colder air masses from the north towards our region, with maximum temperatures not exceeding 10-12 degrees Celsius.’ The National Meteorological Service issued an emergency weather warning for low temperatures, heavy rains, thunderstorms, gale-force winds up to Beaufort 9, and snowfall in mountainous areas. Regions such as Thessaly, Phthiotida, Sporades, Central, and Northern Evia will be at the epicenter of this adverse weather. Preparations are underway by relevant authorities to handle any potential issues.
