Weapons Seized in Turkish Gang-Linked Double Murder Investigation in Glyfada

Four individuals have been arrested and nine others summoned as part of the investigation into the mafia-style double murder that occurred last December. Since Saturday morning (8/3/25), the Anti-Organized Crime Directorate (DAOE) has been actively investigating the shootings in Glyfada, where two people were killed and one seriously injured on December 9, 2024. On Saturday evening, a photograph of weapons seized from the detained Turks was released to the public. Prior to this, searches conducted in Nea Makri, Marathon, and Anavyssos uncovered weapons and narcotics. The four arrested individuals belong to rival Turkish gangs operating in Athens. The victims of the double murder were reportedly members of the ‘Bayagalar’ gang, while the perpetrators are believed to be from a rival gang vying for control over drug, weapon, and migrant trafficking in Turkey. It’s worth noting that on March 3, ELAS had publicly released photos and details of seven Turks accused in the case, three of whom were arrested today (8/3/25). The crime took place on the morning of Monday, December 9, 2024, in Glyfada, where over 30 shots were fired, resulting in the deaths of two Turks and the serious injury of another who was transported to Asklepieio Hospital in Voula. The bullets rained down on a busy intersection at the corner of Leukosiou and Mikras Asias streets outside a supermarket and pharmacy. Miraculously, no passersby were injured during the mafia-style attack.
