Despite escalating tensions in the Middle East and growing concerns over a potential resurgence in the Iran conflict, Wall Street closed the week ending July 10, 2026, with gains — marking a second consecutive week of positive performance for major indices.

Markets Hold Ground Despite Geopolitical Risks

While developments in the Iran conflict continue to unsettle global markets — with rapidly shifting dynamics adding to volatility — U.S. equities managed to finish the session in positive territory. Former President Donald Trump confirmed that the U.S. has agreed to continue talks with Iran, but stressed that the ceasefire is no longer in effect. According to Reuters, market participants remain deeply uncertain: “No one can confidently predict when markets will be sure they’re sailing in calm waters.”

Index Performance

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.29% to close at 52,367 points. The broader S&P 500 gained 0.42%, finishing at 7,575, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq advanced 0.29% to 26,281.

On a weekly basis, the S&P 500 climbed more than 1%, and the Nasdaq posted similar gains. In contrast, the Dow Jones ended the week down 0.5% — the only major index to post a weekly loss.

Bond Yields Edge Higher

U.S. Treasury yields rose across the curve. The 10-year yield climbed to 4.56%, while the 2-year yield surged more than four basis points to 4.20%. The 30-year yield also edged up marginally, reaching 5.062%.
