Former New Democracy minister and MP Sofia Voultepsi has launched a sharp critique against PASOK leader Nikos Androulakis and his party, calling for the European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO) — and specifically European Chief Prosecutor Laura Kovesi — to investigate the lease of a property owned by Androulakis’s family to the Hellenic Cadastre in Heraklion.
Call for EPPO Investigation
Speaking on Naftemporiki TV on Thursday, 14 May 2026, Voultepsi demanded answers from Androulakis regarding the lease arrangement. She accused PASOK of “political hypocrisy”, linked the case to EU funding, and urged both the EPPO and Kovesi to examine whether issues of legality or ethics arise.
“Ms. Kovesi is investigating a case whose funds are controlled by the European Union — namely the Recovery Fund,” Voultepsi said, clarifying that the Cadastre’s digitisation programme is funded by EU resources. “I’ll wait and see what she does,” she added, referring directly to the European prosecutor.
Details of the Lease Agreement
Voultepsi cited a report by Mononews stating that the property — originally owned by Androulakis’s father and reportedly transferred to him in 2013 — is leased to the Hellenic Cadastre for €10,000 per month. According to her, the initial agreement was signed just three days before former Prime Minister George Papandreou visited Kastellorizo. Since 2022, she claimed, Androulakis himself appears as the contracting party with the Greek state.
The MP raised concerns under Article 57 of the Greek Constitution, which prohibits MPs from participating in businesses that enter into contracts with the public sector. “The illegality stems from Article 57 — since 2022,” she stated, insisting the matter cannot be ignored.
Accusations of Hypocrisy
Voultepsi intensified her criticism, accusing PASOK of routinely labelling the government a “criminal syndicate” and “mafia”, while its leader is personally tied to a property leased to a public authority. “I have a problem with political hypocrisy,” she said, adding: “Imagine if I were receiving €10,000 a month — what would you do to me?”
Escalating Political Tensions
Political tensions over the issue have reached a boiling point, with the government and PASOK exchanging sharp statements. The chain reaction began earlier the same day, when Adonis Georgiadis — Minister of Health — told ERT that Androulakis’s family leased the property to the Cadastre shortly before the first bailout memorandum, during a PASOK-led government, and has since collected substantial payments from the state.
In response, PASOK moved swiftly to counterattack, with its leader announcing plans to file legal action against the Health Minister.
