The President of the Commission begins her tour of the European capitals for the Recovery and Sustainability Program.
Ursula von der Leyen said in a statement: “Before Easter we promised the Europeans that we would do everything possible to get them back to normalcy when planning their summer vacation. On Monday, the European Parliament and the European Council signed a regulation on the European digital coronavirus certificate.
It also takes effect on 1 July, but if a Member State so wishes, it can voluntarily register earlier. That is what Belgium did. Belgium now permits travel with a certificate and issues these certificates. “I’m very curious to check and see how this certificate works,” concluded von der Leyen.
The President of the European Commission travels today to Spain, tomorrow to Greece and Denmark and on Friday to Luxembourg.
