A serious traffic incident occurred Thursday afternoon (14 May 2026) in Volos, when a woman mistakenly put her car into reverse and struck her elderly mother, causing severe injuries.
The accident took place around 7:30 p.m. in the Chrysokhoi district of Volos. The 62-year-old woman had just gotten into her vehicle to leave her mother’s home when she unintentionally engaged reverse gear instead of first gear. The car rolled backward, hit the courtyard wall, broke the metal railings, and struck her 83-year-old mother.
The elderly woman was rushed to Volos General Hospital by EKAB ambulance with a head wound and multiple fractures across her body. She remains hospitalized after losing a significant amount of blood.
