Ericsson and Vodafone Netherlands have developed for the first time in the country a solution to voice call via LTE and Wi-Fi, which…
cloud-based and is fully εικονικοποιημÎνη.
Calls through Wi-Fi enables the providers to provide voice services in more locations, for example indoors such as basements, improving the coverage of the external network (the macro network). The technology VoLTE offers fast installation times calling and high definition voice quality, while allowing a wider range of communication capabilities that operate through IP technology, such as video call via a LTE network and support multiple devices.
After this upgrade, Vodafone Netherlands is no longer able to provide a high level of user experience of video services to the users mobile communications, improved in comparison with similar services provided through access to the internet.
The solution is based on the commercial development of Virtualization of Network Functions (NFV) with the use of the systems in IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) and Evolved Packet Core (EPC) Ericsson. The integrated cloud solution also includes Virtual Network Functions (VNF) for making calls, Wi-Fi, control policy and domain application server (application server domain).
Matthias Sauder, Head of Network Vodafone Netherlands, says: “The virtualization of the network offers vast opportunities for efficiency and flexibility. It gives us the ability to offer faster, new services to our subscribers. We are extremely pleased by the support of Ericsson the installation of the technology NFV in our network in the Netherlands, which allows for the immediate provision of new communication services over IP to our customers.”
Valter D’Avino, Head of Western & Central Europe Ericsson, says: “Ericsson has developed a system of calls, VoLTE, and Wi-Fi which can automatically be extended within a cloud telecommunications and to cover the availability of telecommunications services of high reliability. Provides the Vodafone one complete solution that allows you to develop voice and SMS services to a network of IP communications based on the cloud.”
“This is an excellent example of the manner in which providers throughout the world can leverage cloud and virtualization technologies in order to explore new business opportunities.”
The unique end-to-end network overlay (overlay) for calls, VoLTE, and Wi-fi includes functions VNF for the Ericsson IP Multimedia Subsystem in the Ericsson Multimedia Telephony Application Server, Ericsson Call Session Control Function, Ericsson Evolved Packet Core with the Ericsson Evolved Packet Gateway, Ericsson Wi-Fi Mobility Gateway and other functions for the control and certification of Ericsson.
