Visit of a group of Health Sector of the Democratic Συμπαράταξης the offices of the CERTIFICATE

For the burning issues in the field of health and… refugee – immigrant, discussed delegation of the Democratic Συμπαράταξης with the President of the Panhellenic Medical Association (PIS), mr Michael Βλασταράκο. At the meeting, which was held on Tuesday at the offices of the CERTIFICATE, participated on behalf of the Democratic Συμπαράταξης mrs. Evi Χριστοφιλοπούλου, a Member of and Responsible for Labour, Social Security & Health of the Group, mr. Symeon Kedikoglou, Secretary of the department of Health, mr Dimitris Karidis, member of the Political Council of PASOK and mr. Sotiris Zotos, Deputy Secretary of the department of Health. At the meeting made particular reference to the conclusions of the Symposium of the World Medical Association (WMA) held in Istanbul (26-28 February 2016) with the participation of the President of the PIS.
Mr. Βλασταράκος thoroughly analyzed the situation in the field of Health, noting:
– Low public health expenditure, that are in the 4.5% of GDP, well below the safety limit of operation of the Health System, which is 6% of GDP and the average european condition, which is 6.9% of GDP.
– The deconstruction of Primary Health Care, the few physicians who serve – about 2,500, in the absence of a ratings peak at more units of PHC, such as pathologists, cardiologists, pediatricians etc.
– The absence of Urban Health Centres, which are to be on call on a 24-hour basis and independent of T.E.E. by the Hospitals.
– The lack of staffing for 150 beds in the ICU, which could treat 4,000 of our fellow citizens.
– The serious shortage of permanent medical staff in Hospitals (6.000 doctors), health personnel (of 16,000), administrative staff (7.000) and other staff (paramedical and auxiliary). Overall, missing from the Health System to 40,000 employees.
– The inability of the U.S. to impose the levies sickness Insurance Funds – about 2 billion. euro for 2015, as well as the small number of contracted with EOPYY physicians (4.500 – 5000), which has as a result the coverage of 8 – 10 cm. visits, the time needs for the PHC is a total of 40 ec. visits.
The Chairman, mr Michael Βλασταράκος stressed that the positions of the Panhellenic Medical Association, as they have been in the leadership of the Ministry of Health, is the following:
– Creation of a strong Public Primary Health care System, with Public structures in each Municipality. Urban Centres, which are to be on call on a 24-hour basis with physicians, in particular of the main specialties and, the creation of Sq.E.E., regardless of the operation of the other departments of the Hospital.
– Conclusion of a collective contract of EOPYY, with the E.I. P. and local Medical Associations to physicians of all specialties, covering the real needs of the population of the country.
– Conclusion of open contracts of the PUBLIC with those of physicians they wish, paying special attention to the young doctors to stop the phenomenon of migration and unemployment.
– Upgrade of a medical visit (today is the paltry sum of 10 euros).
– Medical function based on scientific rules (Diagnostic-Therapeutic protocols) and not on the accounting criteria.
– Staffing of the “aged” now YOU with a new permanent doctors, because the Hospital System of our country is on the verge of collapse and need to be incentives for physicians of island-remote and hard to reach areas.
– Staffing of beds in ICU not to mourn more victims.
– Increase of Public spending for health within the limits of safety.
Referring to the refugee – and immigration issue, the President of the PIS analysed the positions developed by himself at the Banquet of the World Medical Association in Istanbul.
In closing, mr. Michael Βλασταράκος, stressed that it considers particularly important to any meeting with the representatives of the Political Parties and Institutions. The aim of the E.I. P. it is the synergy of all Actors and the society for the protection of the Health of the Greek people, but also decent, through rules of ethics and conduct medical operation.
