Video: Smoke Filled Metro Station in Helioupoli – STASY Announcement on Line 2 Issue

The metro station was evacuated on Sunday afternoon (6/4/25) when, as shown in images from Newsit.gr, the area filled with smoke, causing passengers to exit cautiously. The incident disrupted operations and caused problems for the metro service. According to STASY, traffic on Line 2 temporarily operated between Anthoupoli – Agios Dimitrios and Argiroupoli – Elliniko due to a technical issue. ‘The technical fault involved a train at the Helioupoli station where smoke was emitted,’ according to the official statement. The fault was repaired late in the evening. As seen in the video from newsit.gr, there was dense smoke in the area accompanied by the characteristic sound of a short circuit. The train was evacuated following standard procedures, though further details about the incident were not disclosed. The affected train was taken to the Sepolion depot for the scheduled technical inspection.
