Video Shows Pigeons Feeding on Patient’s Food Inside Hospital Room

A video featuring two pigeons inside a hospital room at the ‘Red Cross’ hospital has gone viral in recent days. The footage shows the pigeons perched on a table, eating the food of a patient lying nearby. The doctor who uploaded the video to social media highlighted the dire conditions faced by hospital staff, stating that Greece’s National Healthcare System (ESY) needs urgent reform. “In 2025, pigeons are eating on patients in hospitals. As a frontline doctor, I am ashamed. I am ashamed because our patients deserve dignity. I am ashamed because doctors and nurses struggle under deplorable conditions. I am ashamed because no government for years has prioritized human life. The ESY needs a revival, not more words,” the doctor said. Speaking to ANT1, he added that the leadership of the Ministry of Health has been informed about the incident, and an investigation into the issues caused by pigeons in public hospitals is expected to begin in the coming days.
