Two video documents recording the activity of the burglars who emptied at least 121 houses in with the loot amounting to 367,000 euros, brings to the public newsit.gr. The two videos show the gang’s perpetrators the moment they’re inside a house in Attica, where they’re looking to find out what they’re gonna grab. Police handcuffed 14 people alleged to be members of the burglar gang, who violated houses mainly in Helioupoli and emptied them of money, jewelry and everything else “glazed” to burglars. On the afternoon of Monday 23/9/24, there was an operation in areas of Attica, during which the 14 were arrested and two of them are incarcerated in the country’s Detention Stores. According to the Police the members of the spiral “worked” in two operational sub-groups, with a different composition each time, with a main activity in the area of Helioupoli and with the main goal of stealing in homes from which they received money and electronic devices, for the purpose of the illegal financial benefit. The mondus operandi As evidenced by the investigation, gang members operated in a specific mode of action (modus operanti), as follows: -They supervised their target candidate and made sure that the occupant would be absent during their action, -They planned their approach and escape route, as they wanted not to be perceived, – Their “operational” vehicles were mostly rented, with two gang members operating as “intermediators” making it difficult for authorities to identify the other “operational” members, -They sought easily accessible homes, which were either on the ground floor or on the 1st floor, thus ensuring that their goal would be achieved and -They always used gloves and acted with the features of their face, to make it difficult for the work of judicial and police authorities. In fact, gang members had a heavy criminal past and years of experience in burglaries during which they entered the houses by violating aluminum doors and balcony doors, while they had almost always four-member composition and distinct roles as even if they did so by alternating their members, the roles remained the same. From the further investigation and fingerprints of the arrested and also the video analysis available to police officers, 121 thefts from interior compartments were investigated, of which 92 were in the area of Helioupoli. It is estimated that the overall financial benefit from the gang’s action reaches 367,125 euros. In total, from the surveys carried out in houses and other storage sites of stolen goods were found – among others – and 39 mobile phones, weapons, cartridges, cannabis, folding knives, glop, 3 motorcycles and 7 J.E. cars were seized. A multitude of valuables were also found (watches, rings, earrings, necklaces, bracelets etc.) and 4,087 euros. Arrested were taken to the competent Prosecutor, while the investigation continues both to ascertain the full range of action of the criminal gang, and to identify the others involved.
