For yet another day, the Fire Service remains on high alert as strong winds and high temperatures increase the risk of wildfires. According to the Fire Service, Wednesday will see very high fire danger across much of the country due to strong winds.
Specifically, according to the Fire Danger Forecast Map issued by the General Secretariat for Civil Protection under the Ministry of Climate Crisis & Civil Protection, a very high fire risk (Category 4) is forecast for today, Wednesday (02/07), in the following regions:
– Attica Region (including Kythira Island)
– Central Greece Region (Euboea Regional Unit)
– Peloponnese Region (Corinthia, Argolis, and Laconia Regional Units)
– North Aegean Region (Lesbos, Chios, Samos, and Ikaria Regional Units)
– Crete Region
In case residents detect a wildfire, citizens are urged to immediately notify the Fire Service at the emergency number 199.
Winds today, Wednesday (2.7.2025), will be variable at 3 to 4 Beaufort in western areas, northerly at 4 to 6 in eastern areas, and locally reaching 7 in the Aegean Sea. From early afternoon, in the eastern Aegean, they may locally reach up to 8 Beaufort.
