Venezuela: Maduro vowed for third streak six-year term in the wake of fraud complaints

Its president, vowed Friday (10.01.2025) for a third six-year term at the National Assembly of Caracas. Maduro’s re-election was challenged by the opposition who claims victory and cries out that he was made a fraud. “I swear that the new presidential term will be that of peace,” Nicolas Maduro said before Assembly President Jorge Rodriguez who then stated: “You swear as constitutional president of Venezuela”. Nicolas Maduro, whose nearly 12 years in power were marked by a deep economic and social crisis, will remain in power despite six months of confrontation and international calls to him to surrender the reins.
