Vasileios Kalogerou Case: Postmortem Trauma and Pending Toxicology Results

The histological examinations of the remains of the 39-year-old man found deceased in a mountainous area are nearing completion. According to revelations by Live News, led by police journalist Vasilis Lampopoulos, all indications suggest that the injuries to the hyoid bone in the neck of Vasileios Kalogerou, discovered on Mount Tyrvos, occurred after death. The decomposition process is believed to have started on the hill where his remains were located, 50 days after his mysterious disappearance. Additional biochemical tests are awaited, and if confirmed, it could reduce the likelihood that his death was due to criminal activity. By the end of next week, toxicology results are expected, which will clarify any pharmaceutical substances he may have been taking. Meanwhile, the Forensic Science Directorate of EL.AS. has sent discs containing recovered footage from 20 cameras in the area during critical days surrounding Kalogerou’s disappearance to the Larissa Police Department. Authorities also await results from an investigation into a vehicle flagged by a witness as suspicious, parked near the Larissa amphitheater since December 31, 2024, one day before Kalogerou went missing. Despite earlier reports of phone data retrieval in the Tyrvos area, the process has stalled, awaiting approval from the prosecutor.
