Vangelis Marinakis: ‘When Olympiacos and Nottingham Play in Champions League, One Will Win’

In an interview with the documentary on MEGA celebrating the 100th anniversary of Olympiacos, Vangelis Marinakis, the influential figure behind both Olympiacos and Nottingham Forest, boldly declared that one of these teams will win the upcoming Champions League. Olympiacos is heavily favored to secure the Greek league title, ensuring direct entry into the Champions League group stage due to their strong European performance. Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest is excelling in England, currently in third place, aiming for their first appearance in Europe’s top-tier competition in decades. During the special broadcast marking Olympiacos’ centenary, Marinakis confidently stated, ‘Once both teams play in the Champions League, one of them will win it.’ Nottingham Forest has previously triumphed twice in the European Cup (now Champions League) during the 1978/79 and 1979/80 seasons, while Olympiacos holds the record for the most participations by a Greek club in the tournament.
