Duster since 2010, when first launched was described as one of the most honest cars on the market thanks to the combination of affordable price, space, practicality and economic use. The reason? The parent company Renault preferred to build an affordable financial car, focusing on investing in mechanical parts and components from models already in the market, so the cost was lower. CORVERSE In the second generation of Duster (2018-2024) he retained the successful value for money profile, changing a few things from the first generation, upgrading the interior and adding prudently modern technology, so that the price remains competitive. Therefore, the second generation, which is not even ten years old, is a modern option that is worth seeing in the C-SUV category, if you want spaces, you have an excursion mood, you do not want to give much money for fuel and service and you prefer a safe car. For the above and even more reasons, Dacia Duster has been very loved by the purchasing public and has recorded over 2 million sales in 60 countries. And most importantly, does this vfm option prove to be durable over the years? CORVERSE A few words The second generation of Dacia Duster is available with petrol, petrol/LPG and diesel engines, mechanical or automatic box and in forward or four-wheel drive versions. Designally, this generation does not show “old”, exactly the opposite, especially after the 2022 facelift, in which it freshened up the details of Duster’s appearance to keep up with Dacia’s modern design identity with an intense mask, ECO LED headlamps, front and back in the shape of “Y”, resulting in nothing to be jealous of today. In fact, the rear aerometry combined with low friction tyres helps better fuel consumption and lower pollutant emissions. The interior of Duster is upgraded compared to the first generation, simple and hard plastics on the dashboard and the doors, but this does not mean poor quality. Also, there are fabric or leather linings depending on the version. It is not a premium construction and this seems, however, focused on usability, without missing anything basic. Spatially, the second generation’s Duster cabin continues its first tradition of spaciousness, large and practical spaces. Specifically, the 2.7 m wheelbase gives spaciousness to the rear passengers for legs and head. They can sit comfortably behind two passengers and the third with some concessions. Also, travel in the city and the trip takes place relaxingly thanks to the redesigned more comfortable and large seats. Its excursive character is also seen from the capacity of the luggage space that reaches 478 litres and is ejected to 1,623 litres with the rear seats folded. As far as motors are concerned, the most popular are: 1.0 to 100 horsepower, 1.5 dCi diesel with 110 horsepower and then the facelift 115 horsepower and 1.0 TCe LPG engine (gas and LPG), we meet on the facelift. In this case, the petrol and LPG drive system shall be fitted to a 1,000cc turbocharged 1,000cc indirect spray engine, which is originally designed for LPG operation. When petrol is used the engine yields 91 horsepower, while when LPG is used it yields 100 horsepower. Note that the combined TCe LPG version can cover just over 1,200 km. Most four-wheeled versions are combined with diesel 1.5 dBi. It’s worth it because… Duster may not be a premium model, but a car that focuses on the essence of things. However, there are some details… luxury, such as double shock absorbers on the front hood, that we find in expensive vehicles or not! Although the two-wheeled version carries a half-flex back, comfort is comparable to double scissors. This helps all 16-year-old rims, which is rare nowadays, since fashion dictates larger dimensions, sacrificing from practicality and economy. In the LPG version, the capacity of the trunk is not affected by the existence of the LPG tank, since it is located on the floor of the storage area and specifically on the reserve position, which was replaced by a tyre repair kit. Duster has a genuine off-road character, with tested four-wheel drive that doesn’t make any problems. Even the adjunct versions, they do just fine on off-road routes. This helps the distance of 217 mm from the ground and the large escape angles (2WD: 34 degrees, 4WD: 33 degrees), approach (30 degrees) and ramp (21 degrees). In plus, add the low maintenance costs. The cost of service to the official delegation is affordable and expendable economically and easily found. What to notice The second generation’s Dacia Duster is reliable and time-resistant, which makes it a good choice in the market for second-hand goods. Few reports exist of damage and difficult problems, however, there are some points of attention you will need to see, although they do not affect the overall good picture of the Romanian model. Engine: Damages to spray becks in petrol engine versions/ LPG. Duster is sensitive to scratches due to the medium thickness and quality of external dyeing. Thus, if these are deep scratches over time and exposure to severe weather conditions, certain parts of the bodywork may experience rust. Mezza: Limited number of vehicles had damaged the ignition switch in batch, mostly in the UK, which was repaired. The recall campaign took place in November 2020 and concerned essentially Duster built until October 2018. Don’t fail to… check the service book and make sure the vehicle has been regularly maintained and that the necessary repairs are recorded. Make sure the guarantee is valid. Examine the gearbox for any noises or malfunctions. Review the condition of seats and plastics for signs of excessive wear or misuse, because it is a model popular in families. Carefully check the body for corrosion, especially where it is prone to moisture. Feel free to ask if it is an import car or if it moves in places with intense humidity and snow. We were told… Owner of a Dacia Duster diesel 1.5 dCi 4WD 2nd generation facelift of 2021 describes in newsit.gr his experience: “I bought in July 2021 at 24,200 euros new four-wheeled Duster with the diesel engine and the 6-car manual box. So far I have made about 55,000 km and several of them on demanding dirt routes due to my involvement with the Akropolis Rally, which means there were times when I had to check out details of the special route (hard soil and stones) to be all right in the days of the race. With always the right tire set, I never faced a problem and his four-wheel drive got me out of difficult situations many times. Also, because I like driving, but also throughout the family traveling, we have made many excursions across Greece, on off-road routes and snow. Duster’s four-movement has been known and tested for many years and we find it in many models. It’s simple, it doesn’t break. In general, despite extensive use, I never dealt with any issue, but I’m always a service officer. The interior has shown no signs of premature wear or cracks in plastics. And even though I have two little kids, it doesn’t look like the back’s damaged. The only issue I faced, like other holders, was about the seat. More specifically, its base was moving and the buckle of the seat belt creaked. It’s something that happens a lot. This was in the two years and I changed it for free because it was on bail. Also, in two years, there was a wear on the handlebars, so I had to change the ruffle, which was still on bail. The warranty lasts 5 years. Diesel K9K has added blue, which I put every 12,000 to 14,000 km. The process of regeneration takes place alone, without even being noticed. Maybe he’s barely smelled. I don’t have to make skilled miles on an open road to protect the DPF particle filter. I haven’t been recommended or written by the manual. In general, it has very economic average consumption, even within the city, while engine running is very smooth and almost does not sound like an oil engine. However, the crate has a short escalation and constant changes tire the city. A negative is the sensitive color of scratches. Although mine is stored in a garage, so it is not in danger of unexpectedly, however, the branches, for example, when they touch the body leave easy marks. This is a simple SUV, without many security systems. The version I have includes Blind Spot Warning for the blind spot warning and Multi-view camera with the four cameras and it’s enough for me. I’m… I’m old school and I don’t want many systems and electronics. Its service is economical. For example, a service lubricant costs about 130 euros and the full amount of about 250 euros. I call it a “honored worker” of everyday life. Reminds me of the Defender of the time”. Prices Prices The second generation’s used Dacia Duster prices vary depending on the date, version, engine and box. One would expect lower prices in secondhand, since Duster has the informal title of value for money model, which applies to gasoline-powered two-wheeled versions, but not to diesel 4×4 , since due to their unique character they maintain high prices as second-hand. Prices may be higher than you would expect, but this shows that they also retain reseller value. For example, prices range between 12,500 and 25,000 euros . The average prices of Dacia Duster (2018-2024) as used are 18,000 euros . Although it belongs to the most economical side of models, Dacia Duster is a good construction, overall reliable and time-resistant. Despite hard plastics, which have also gathered most negative comments, its durability has proved to be equivalent to that of more expensive models, while practicality is top. The emphasis has been placed on the substance rather than on impressive systems and hi-tech technologies. In the second-hand market, the price may not be too low, but remains affordable. We suggest, if it complies with the financial framework you calculate, the four-wheeled diesel car Dacia Duster, since it is a complete reliable car that takes you everywhere for sure and financially. In case you belong to the category that you want a reliable, affordable car use and you don’t mind the absence of technological innovations or funky interiors, Dacia Duster is a proposal that reason and mind show direction. Discover It is important to know the past of the used car and this is evidenced by the KTEOs and the service book. Always ask and check the service book. Make sure the car is maintained according to the manufacturer’s specifications. Check the maintenance book and pay attention to regular changes in oils, filters and other consumables. After consulting the owner of the car, you could visit together an authorized repairer of the company and with the serial number of the car to see everything about it, including recall. Always check with qualified trusted staff before purchase. We suggest you drive the car you are interested in before making the purchase.
