The war in Ukraine has returned to the forefront, as U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff announced today (March 10, 2026) that peace negotiations between Ukraine and Russia will resume imminently. Witkoff — President Donald Trump’s top advisor on the conflict — told CNBC in an interview that the next round of trilateral talks involving Ukraine, Russia, and the United States is likely to take place “sometime next week.”
Russian Refusal to Share U.S. Military Data with Iran
During the same interview, Witkoff revealed that Russia declined to share information about U.S. military installations with Iran. He said this refusal came up during Monday’s (March 9, 2026) phone call between President Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Turkey Offers to Host Next Round
Earlier the same day, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed he had spoken by phone with his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Among other topics, they discussed the possibility of holding the next round of peace talks on Turkish soil. “The president emphasized that Turkey is ready to host the next trilateral round of negotiations. We welcome this initiative and hope it yields results,” Zelenskyy wrote in a related social media post.
