A tragic domestic violence incident unfolded in Oxford, Georgia, when a 63-year-old man fatally shot his wife and daughter during a heated argument over the care of his elderly mother. According to reports from the New York Post, tensions escalated rapidly after the man’s 37-year-old daughter, Amanda Minsey MacBryer, accused him of neglecting his aging mother — echoing similar complaints reportedly made by his wife of 38 years, Jennifer Lynn Minsey.
Shooting at Family Home in Oxford
The shootings occurred inside a residence on Gault Road in Oxford — a small town located about 40 miles southeast of Atlanta. Authorities arrested Ralph Minsey at the scene. He now faces two counts of murder for the deaths of his wife, 57-year-old Jennifer Lynn Minsey, and his daughter, 37-year-old Amanda Minsey MacBryer, as well as one count of unlawful firearm possession, according to the Walton County Sheriff’s Office.
911 Call Reveals Disturbing Confession
In a chilling 911 call released to the public, Minsey admitted to the killings, saying: “My wife told my daughter that I wasn’t taking care of my mother. I take care of her every day — and then I just shot my daughter and my wife, whom I’d been with for 38 years… I couldn’t take the lies anymore, or the way they yelled at me. I don’t know… I just lost it. I’m so sorry. Thirty-eight years. I loved her.”
At another point in the call, he reportedly told emergency dispatchers: “I shot her in the head with a 9-millimeter.”
First Responders Arrive Too Late
Police rushed to the home in Oxford — roughly 65 kilometers east of Atlanta — where they found Amanda dead at the scene. Her mother was rushed to the hospital in critical condition but later died from her injuries despite medical efforts.
Husband’s Shocking Account
Amanda’s husband, Adam McGraw, provided a harrowing account during his own 911 call. He described Amanda as “intoxicated” and “distraught” when they arrived at her parents’ home. He said the argument quickly intensified: “I took her to her parents’ house, and she started arguing with her father. He said, ‘I have a gun… I’ll pull the trigger,’ and then immediately shot her in the head.”
McGraw added that Minsey then turned on his wife: “He grabbed her by the throat, threw her to the floor, and threatened to kill her. I ran because I had to protect our two children — and I was too afraid to go back inside.”
Legal Proceedings Underway
Ralph Minsey remains in custody without bond, facing multiple criminal charges including murder. Prosecutors have formally charged him with two counts of homicide and additional offenses related to the incident.
